
Laura Epling is a Violinist, String Arranger and Composer based in Nashville, TN
Since graduating with a Bachelor of Music from Belmont University, Laura has worked consistently as a violinist and string arranger within the small, beloved strings community in Nashville, Tennessee, where she resides. After school, she completed her two-year apprenticeship as an orchestrator’s assistant with renowned arranger Kristin Wilkinson. Now working primarily behind the scenes as a recording musician and arranger, Laura uses her experience having assisted with projects for such names as Willie Nelson, Brandi Carlile, and John Prine to inform her writing and performing today.
Laura has appeared in studio recordings for several mainstream artists including Fantasia, Carrie Underwood, Cody Fry, Moon Taxi, NEEDTOBREATHE, and more. She has also performed on television for the ABC CMA Awards, ABC’s CMA Country Christmas, and CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Her string arrangements have found their way into TV placements on the USA Network show Suits (Moon Taxi, “Good As Gold”) and on the Hallmark Channel movie Christmas on Honeysuckle Lane (Alicia Witt, “Christmas Miracle”). Most recently, Laura has had the privilege of performing live in ensembles with Sigur Rós, Tyler Childers, Laufey, Band of Horses, Michael W. Smith, Alabama, and the Trans-Siberian Orchestra. She currently holds a first violin position with the Jackson Symphony.
Laura dedicates herself to continued study of the violin and contemporary classical composition. She is an active member of The Recording Academy, the Nashville Composers Collective, the Atwood Quartet, Lockeland Strings, and Rhose Studio Strings. She uses the software programs Dorico for music notation and Logic Pro X for remote recording.
